2019 Winter Holiday Events!

You are invited to join us for these special services and events this holiday season.

Teddy Bear Sundays
Teddy Bear
Sundays - November 17, 24, and December 1

Bring your new bears to the service any of these Sundays so they can receive our love before they are given to children at the Walnut Creek Surgical Center this Christmas.

Our bookstore is selling cute, cuddly, and unique teddy bears. The sizes range from tiny bears for infants to larger bears for children.

Children's Christmas Choir
Wednesday Afternoon Rehearsals - December 4, 11, and 18

The Children’s Christmas Choir will rehearse Wednesday afternoons, Dec. 4, 11, and 18 in the Community Room. To accommodate various schedules, the children may arrive any time between 2:45 and 6:00 pm to spend 20-30 minutes learning their songs.

On Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, the children will meet in the Sanctuary for an on-stage rehearsal at 4:15 pm.

To sign up your children, send a text message to Mirabai Bangs at 925-457-4303. Please include your child’s name, parent’s name, and your best contact cell phone number.

Remembrance Service
Thursday, December 5, 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary

Remembering those we loved who have made their transitions is best shared together amongst loving, spiritually-inclined witnesses. It is an honorable testimony of another’s life and a healing expression of the love that causes us to miss their presence and celebrate their impact.

Bring a photo or other relevant item to add to our altar. Experience reverent music, meditation and a sacred Sanctuary for sharing brief stories.

Holiday Arts & Craft Fair

Sunday, December 8, 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

Enjoy an alternative holiday shopping experience right here in our Community Room.

It’s a great place to find special gifts, and enjoy FREE hot apple cider and holiday cookies. Crafters & artists: This is a sparkling opportunity to display and sell your amazing creations.

There is no fee for a booth…just a donation from sales. Space is limited, so act soon to reserve a booth by contacting Louise at 925-817-7809.

Enjoy a magical evening as we share our favorite Christmas songs with our friends and family at the Kensington Retirement Home.

Meet in the Kensington parking lot, 1580 Geary Road, at 6:00 pm and help us bring cheer and joy to the residents.

As Radiance Returns: A Winter Solstice Symphony!
Saturday, December 21 at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary and Community Room

Be deeply inspired and invigorated by an extraordinary musical celebration honoring the sun's radiance, the light within all life, and the unspeakable beauty of nature.

Jennie Landfield and friends are thrilled to feature the glorious indigenous music of Oscar Reynolds, master Bolivian flutist and guitarist, in an unforgettable ceremony of sacred sound. Contra Costa Piano Composers and other accomplished musicians will present a variety of musical interludes depicting the return of the light, with multimedia accompaniments of song, dance, poetry and video.

The ceremony is followed by gentle ecstatic dance with DJ Kaleo, and a holiday feast (please bring a contribution to share). Take a break from holiday preparations, and rest in heartfelt, joyous community!  $20 suggested love offering.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Tuesday, December 24, 5:30 & 7:30 pm in the Sanctuary

Join us for either or both of our beautiful candlelight services this Christmas Eve.

The 5:30 service is geared toward families and children, and includes the children’s choir.

Both services feature Christmas carols and other sacred music, the Christmas story creatively and metaphysically told to herald the rebirth of the Christ within us, and our tradition of culminating the service with the entire congregation singing Silent Night while holding individual candles with a special affirmation to take home.

Hanukkah Hootenanny
Sunday, December 29, 4:30 pm in the Sanctuary

Bring your Menorahs with candles and Dreidels and enjoy the festivities of our inclusive, Interfaith celebration of the Hanukkah Story.

Children are gratefully welcome; only service animals are allowed in the Sanctuary.

New Year’s Eve Burning Bowl
Tuesday, December 31, 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary

It’s time to let go of all those concerns from the past year. Release them, burn them up, and prepare to create what you want for the New Year.

Intend the new, write it down, and it will be sent to you in late 2020 to remind you of the new creation you have called forth.
