High school YOU annual family camping trip

The Youth of Unity (YOU) is an inviting space for teens 13 to 18 years old. Unlike most other experiences in high school life, you can come as you are - exactly as you are – and be accepted. The friendships you make within this group of amazing people are able to be deeper and more honest.

In YOU, what happens is up to you and the other teens. The motto is “youth directed and adult guided.” While the adults sponsor and facilitate, they try not to get in the way.

As a group, you will lead your own spiritual development and create your own sacred space. This includes on Sundays when you take turns leading different aspects of your time together, such as the check-in, the opening prayer and even the lesson. The YOU meet on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. in Room 3 of the Education Building

In addition to Sundays, there are lots of other activities to join. Some are in service, such as leading a retreat for the Peacemakers (middle schoolers), being a part of Sunday services in the sanctuary or running your own fundraisers. Others are just about hanging out together (think camping trips and days at the beach).

Rallies and Other Events: Meet teens from other local Unities by attending regional events, including rallies, which can be powerful experiences. You can also choose to grow your leadership skills by running for regional offices; Unity of Walnut Creek’s YOU has a strong tradition of leadership at the regional level.

Wanted: Volunteers to work with our wonderful teens! Contact the Youth Ministry director for more information. Prior to beginning your volunteer work, you will be asked to allow us to conduct a background check.
