Mindfulness Meditation

First and third Tuesdays

7:30 - 9 pm on Zoom


Mindfulness (vipassana) meditation is taken from the teachings of the Buddha 2600 years ago. Living within our present moment experience is sometimes pleasant and sometimes difficult, and the practice of mindfulness cultivates a balance of mind to enable us to navigate these up and downs more skillfully and with less suffering. More awareness is a good way to live.

Mindfulness practice also includes the development of lovingkindness and compassion, so that we can enhance the quality of our relationships with other people.

The format of the evening is a period of sitting meditation, including instructions for those not familiar with meditation. There is a talk on some aspect of the practices and the evening ends with a guided meditation on lovingkindness.

There is no charge for the class, donations are optional and cheerfully accepted.

The teacher is Ernest Isaacs, MFT. He has been practicing meditation since 1977 and has been leading this group for over 30 years. He is involved with the Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Marin County and has been through a teacher training program there. He is also a student of the spiritual teacher Hameed Ali in the Diamond Heart Approach and a psychotherapist in private practice.
